What I have come to understand and fully accept is this; the foundation of all I believe to be Truth emanates from the Catholic Church – Christ’s bride and his Earthly presence. Thus, the fullness of all Truth and the benchmark to which all my (our) decisions must be measured is Catholic Doctrine which was ordained by Christ himself while on Earth and continues to be guided to this day by the Holy Spirit through Scripture, Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium.
Although I subscribe to this reality unequivocally and unapologetically, I do not wish to degrade or belittle my protestant brothers and sisters here. For as Christ said himself in Mark 9;39-40, “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us”. I want this blog to be a tool to bring Christians together, not to divide us. I will, however, draw a line in the sand regarding this pledge if there are comments made here that intentionally disparage the Catholic Church. I will defend Her to the end.
Important to note is the distinction between the Church (capital “C” which is Christ’s real presence on Earth and is perfect) and the institutional catholic church which is human – guided by men and women who sin. So those who attempt to denigrate the Church because of historical mistakes made by “man” do nothing to marginalize Her absolute purity and perfection – that is impossible.
Socially and politically speaking, I’m a Conservative. Being a social and/or political Conservative is pretty well defined in our world, so there’s no need for me to be detailed here. I’ve always been politically Conservative, but only marriage and parenthood has moved me strongly to the right. What I will say though is that there is no doubt in my mind that America is moderately Conservative to Conservative – always has been. There’s also no doubt that the mortal enemy of the American success story, the greatest nation history has ever known, is liberalism and various manifestations. In general, I believe liberalism to be completely counter to the Truth and anathema to the traditional American experience and our nation’s success.
