In my experience as a father, home-schooler, and as a successful manager of profitable businesses, I have found that leadership is of two distinct styles; Dictatorship ,or Exemplary. Do as I say, or do as I do/have done.
There is a time and place for each of these styles of leadership. The most crucial part of each is credibility. Can you back what you say and following through with either discipline or promises? Secondly, is acceptance of responsibility.
Our current Executive “leadership” opts for the do as I say ,or dictatorial leadership style. Is this is their only option due to the fact they have no successful track record of leading? It is the easiest of the two given styles. It allows for acceptance of very limited responsibility if things go bad. They blame their predecessors or pass the buck without accepting responsibility. It also allows them to deflect attention away from their deficiencies or lack of credibility. If one choses to examine the charges, arrests and indictments of elected officials, one would be amazed at the level of bad choices made. Both theirs and ours.
Then comes the acceptance of responsibility issue. Our current POTUS and legislative leadership chose to blame their predecessors for current failures.
George Bush, who doesn’t have a vote in Congress and who no longer occupies the White House, is to blame for it all. He broke Obama’s promise to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them. He broke Obama’s promise to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN. He broke Obama’s promise to end earmarks. He broke Obama’s promise to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent. He broke Obama’s promise to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year. He broke Obama’s promise to make peace with direct, no pre-condition talks with America’s most hate-filled enemies during his first year in office, ushering in a new era of global cooperation. He broke Obama’s promise to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs. He broke Obama’s promise to end no-compete contracts with the government.
He broke Obama’s promise to disclose the names of all attendees at closed White House meetings.
He broke Obama’s promise for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters. He broke Obama’s promise to have chosen a home church to attend Sunday services with his family by Easter of last year.
Yes, it’s all George Bush’s fault. President Obama is nothing more than a puppet in the never-ending, failed Bush administration.
Our Limited Constitutional Republic is established for WE THE PEOPLE to elect the best and brightest to lead. Not the greatest orator spewing ideals and dreams. Have these leaders passed the litmus test of leadership by meeting a payroll, operating within a budget, or operating a profitable business? Could they grow simple crops to provide for their community or family?
The simple lessons of leadership are not being taught in our primary , secondary and post secondary educational institutions. As a home-schooler of 4 children, I know first hand that parents are being disenfranchised by the educational system. Charlotte Iserbyt served as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI), U.S. Department of Education, during the first Reagan Administration, where she first blew the whistle on a major technology initiative which would control curriculum in America’s classrooms. Her book and video “THE DELIBERATE DUMBING DOWN OF AMERICA”, explains in brutal detail how the educational system intentionally creates for the pupil a dependency on the Institutions for answers. No creative thought or critical thinking skills ever so crucial for true leadership. Since this parasitic relationship has been established it is left up to the parents to teach these skills. Well, they are simply not part of the equation.
What is left? Television and mainstream media are our youths’ dismal recourse. That is simply laughable. Leadership is based on Honor, Integrity,Credibility and LOVE. Being a true leader is from being a learned follower.
