Americans Die for America; Thank You from One You’ve Saved
No Greater Love Than This; That One Should Lay Down Their Life For Their Friends
What is one to say? What words could I possibly use to thank not only the millions of Americans who have served our country, but the millions who have died or are living with the physical and mental casualties of war? What about their families, their friends, the wives, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers? What can we possibly do, those of us who chose not to serve our country in such dangerous pursuits, to show these courageous Americans and their families/friends – these heroes – how much we are indebted? And what about He who fought and won the war against death? He who laid down his life, hanging like a criminal on a tree, when He had no reason to, other than love for His children. Like the great example Christ gave, our military men and women have sought to serve with the knowledge that they may make the ultimate sacrifice; their lives for something they love; America – Freedom.
All I can say as I sit here in my cozy La-Z-Boy is thank you. Thank you for paying the ultimate price for America, for me. For protecting our freedom, and in a lot of cases protecting the freedom of other countries and people even though that was not your primary focus. But you’re an American – you wanted to protect freedom, preserve it where ever it was threatened and provide it to those it was being withheld – against their will. I thank you for all Americans – and those outside our borders whom you’ve protected even to death – in light of the fact that many of us do not show you proper respect. Disregard of the US military is unconscionable and deeply disrespectful, but I’ll leave those “fences to mend” to the ones who are Americans In Name Only.
Thank you, that’s all I can say, to the dead, to their families and their friends. To the wounded – physically, mentally and in spirit. Stay strong in the face of danger, in the midst of your sorrow, and turn away with pride from those who would, in their liberal and misguided intellects, seek to marginalize your service in any way. Their cowardice and lack of genuine patriotism excludes them from seeing the truth, from understanding how noble it is to serve America as part of the US military. I am indebted to you, because it is from the first American who died for this great Republic to those who fall today that we owe all our freedoms. We have no freedom and thus no America if it weren’t first, fought for and, second protected by, the US military. Thank you.
It is the Veteran and Their Families – Dead and Alive – Who Have Given America All Its Freedoms

It is the Veteran – dead and alive, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion. It is the Veteran – dead and alive, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the Veteran – dead and alive, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Veteran – dead and alive, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the Veteran – dead and alive, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the Veteran – dead and alive, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote. It is the VETERAN who salutes the Flag, and in death goes home Under the Flag.
